Goodwood Revival 2015

GOODWOOD REVIVAL

This is the third year I have been to Goodwood and it never lets you down.

The way visitors get into the spirit of the event by dressing in period clothing has always been a big pat of its appeal and you see some of the world's greatest cars and motorbikes.

Chris Evans sold one of his Ferraris for £1,250,000 at Bonhams Auction. The veteran racing driver Sir Stirling Moss was driving in one of the races. The car park becomes part of the show as visitors show off their classics.

Also very popular this year was the display of Spitfires and bombers as part of the Battle of Britain anniversary.

For me the race of the day was the Lavant Cup. The twenty minute race was all Ferraris from 1950 to 1958 and featured many of the fasted and most important machines.

This year the Revival paid tribute to the career of Bruce McLaren, the racer and team owner. There was a great display of the cars he raced which included the first McLaren designed M2B F1 car. His life ended at Goodwood during a testing accident in 1970.

In days gone by I watched and took photos of Bruce, Stirling Moss, Jack Brabham, John Surtees and Jackie Stewart.

There is always great music and this year it was the 60s Rock'n Roll era, with the girls all dressed the part.

The day is pure magic, a day you will never forget.
