Goodwood Revival 2014

The Goodwood Revival gets better and better. Once again I had a great day with photography, not just the motor racing but everything that goes with it, from fashion to dance.

The public make such an effort with dressing up and most of all, they don't mind you taking their photos.

The Goodwood Revival belonged to Sir Jackie Stewart this year as they celebrated 50 years since his first race at Goodwood. He was one of the most famous drivers in the world back in the 60s. In the early years I went motor racing and used to go to the pits and take photos and later would get them signed. I have signed photos which I took back in 1965 which included Jackie Stewart, Jack Brabham, John Surtees and Graham Hill. My family were in the motor racing business, my father was a tester for Jaguar cars and my brother raced. On this occasion I was lucky to be near the pits when Jackie was showing some people around and I managed to get some great shots.

To watch Maserati, Lotus, Brabham Ford, Jaguar MK1 and Jaguar D type all racing around Goodwood makes for a very special day. People come from Italy, France, Germany and the USA. The one thing we have in common is sharing and having fun, dressing up from the 1920s to the 1960s.

The sell-out Revival is truly a magical step back in time, with all celebrating the spectacle and glamour of the pre-1960s era. The dancing is out of this world, from the six piece swing bands to jive, from mods and rockers back to the 1930s and 1940s. Over the road from the race track there is a fairground, shopping, bars and live music, a day to remember. I absolutely loved it.
