Fine Dining

I was in Edinburgh recently and took in the Palace of Holyrood, residence of Her Majesty the Queen.

I also went to the Queen’s Gallery where there were outstanding art works to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Canaletto and Fabergé, selected from nine royal residences.
Edinburgh Castle is an experience, the home of the Royal Military Tattoo.

Although I don’t drink whisky I enjoyed the Scotch Whisky Tasting Experience. I took a photo of a bottle for sale at £10,000.00.

I had the pleasure of meeting Martin Wishart, what a nice guy.

I dined at his Michelin starred restaurant in Leith. Martin worked with Marco Pierre White and Michel Roux Jnr.

I went for the tasting menu which includes:

Wye Valley Green Asparagus
Crab and Yellow Fin Tuna tartare
Grilled Orkney Scallops
Lemon Sole with Cockles and Squid.
Roast Pigeon.
Caramelia Chocolate Cremeaux.

You have to love good food to appreciate the art that goes into making these dishes. Martin has a very good team behind him and lots of passion and you feel that.

Did you see Martin's recipes on www.greatbritishchefs.com? I tried to download the app (there is a menu app as well!) on my Iphone but it couldn't take the size of file over the mobile! I liked his crab cake recipe. Never tried his food but I thought the tasting menu you described was interesting - simple, not too rich and then you get to the pudding!
